On Friday 12th November, 2021, patrons attending the Annual General Meeting of the Perthshire Musical (Competition) Festival at Perth’s Royal George Hotel were delighted to learn that the the Festival has just been nominated for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS).
Perth and Kinross Depute Lord Lieutenant Andy Middlemiss congratulated the members as he announced that a nomination had initially been received from a family with a long association with the 100 year festival. Over the next few months the work of the Festival the work of the volunteers – the organisers, the fund raisers, the stewards and every aspect involved in success of the festival will be reviewed together with the depth of impact on the musicians and other participants.
The prestigious award is the highest award given to UK volunteer groups and recognises exceptional work done by volunteer groups in their communities.
Winners of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service receive a certificate signed by the Queen, as well as a glass crystal trophy.
