Afternoon Session – 2pm: Prepared Reading, Verse Speaking, Soutar Poems and Dramatic Solos
Evening Session – 6.30pm: Prepared Reading, Bible Reading and Burns Poems
On our final evening at Perth’s St John’s Episcopal Church, Princes Street, adjudicator Judey Struth heard a series of very confident entries to the Festival’s Speech classes age (11-12 and age 13-14), including Prepared Reading, Bible Reading and Burns Poetry.
The session culminated in a closely contested class for Dramatic Solos (aged 13-14). Prior to that, the Rosebowl, presented to Perthshire Music Festival by the Perth Burns Club, was won by Eric Moody (Strathallan) for worthy recital of ‘To a Louse’ by Robert Burns.
Tom Newell, also from Strathallan School, collected the ‘Year of the Bible’ Quaich for Bible reading.
As the evening drew to a close, Mr Neil Copeland, Perthshire Music Festival chairman, thanked the competitors and those who had prepared and supported them, and expressed the Festival’s thanks to adjudicator Judey Struth for her words of wisdom and encouragement to all the competitors.
