Once again, it is my pleasure to introduce the latest syllabus for Perform in Perth – the 99th Festival.
As always, it is the entrants who make the festival, demonstrating their talents and hard work by performing at a level appropriate to their ability and experience. Some people are motivated and encouraged by competition while others are not. To this end, non-competitive classes have been introduced. For now, they are only in the strings section, but remember there is also the Music is Fun class.

During Perform in Perth in 2022 various classes/sections/sessions were videoed. If you are new to the festival or uncertain of levels of performance, I would encourage you to view these video recordings. For those who participated in 2022, the videos are a way of reliving your success – remember without performers there is no festival, so every performance is a success. The videos are available to view on the Perform in Perth website – www.perthshire-musical-festival.org.uk

From the youngest to the oldest (our performers have ranged from 4 to 80+), there will be a class for you. Entry fees are now set at the same rate for all solos – meaning 18+ fees are reduced. So come on, all you 18+ performers, enter and give the youngsters a lead.

2024 will be the 100th festival of the Association. As part of the celebrations, an exhibition is being launched in Autumn 2023. If you have any memorabilia which you are willing to lend for the exhibition, get in touch with the Secretary at secretary@perthshire-musical-festival.org.uk.

In June 2022 Perform in Perth was delighted to receive the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) – the MBE for volunteer groups (see the logo on the cover of this syllabus). Since its inception Perthshire Musical (Competition) Festival Association, now usually referred to as Perform in Perth, has been organised and administered by volunteers. Would you like to volunteer and help to run the festival? If so, in the first instance, contact the Secretary. You might like to consider becoming a patron (member) of the Association – see the form at the end of the syllabus.

Peruse this syllabus and find a class or classes to showcase your talent, irrespective of the level you have so far attained. Join the many others in entering and make the 2023 Perform in Perth another successful festival.
